My tribute to Pops

For those of you who know who Pops is, I salute you. For those who don't, man, you're missing out.

Pops works for a shop we used to frequent. It was called VT Competition Engine Development but has since switched hands, and we don't frequent the place quite as much. We worked with them to help out with a few things, and I also did some reselling of their engines for them, to help them get into the import market. That's another story, so I won't bore you with that.

Here's what you're here to see:

Pops is an older guy, but he's one of the coolest old guys ever. He's an engine builder, and has got to know just about everything there is to know about them. He's got an old school Impala (which I'd really like to know more about) that I've only seen once. It's sitting in his garage, with a four link rear suspension, tubbed, tucked, and ready for some action. So, what would you need to stuff in there in order to make it complete?

An aluminum Rod, bored stroked big block with Merlin aluminum race heads topped with a polished Weiand 8-71 supercharger. I mean, why would you think of anything else to put in it, right?

Well, the way Pops sees it: it's probably going to be the last big thing he builds for himself, so he should make it really cool. Man, he sure knows what to make all the little kiddies drool :D

I have some video of this thing on the Superflow dyno - I'll have to dig it up, and post it. Until then, I have some pictures you should see.
