Front Suspension, Round 2

The first iteration of the suspension was less than admirable. We initially looked into using much of the fatory pieces, moved, or modified from their original locations. this proved to be a little too much for the stock suspension. Basically, we were trying to use a rear-steet setup in a front-steer configuration, and that just wasn't going to work. The angles on the tie rods led to unwanted (and unsafe) bumpsteer. The steering arms had the wrong angle on them, and weren't long enough to do what we wanted to do with them. The worst part about this setup was that it also didn't allow us to tune any of this out.

So, round two started. Round 2, fight!

Round two was a quick round - we basically tried one thing, and decided that if we didn't like the results, we'd try something else. It was essentially, a quick, and cheap fix. Basically, we removed the stock steering arms from the stock front hubs, and welded a loinger set of arms onto the stock hubs. This new method fixed the problem of the new steering arms being too short. It also fixed the angle of the steering arms so that the ackerman would be correct. And, lastly, it would fix most of the bumpsteer issues. Any issues we had with bumpsteer would be tuneable, so that if we had issues, we'd be able to space the tie rod end to minimize the bump steer.

We completed doing these steps, and then I bit the bullet. I didn't want this entire car being exceptionally nice, and well built in general with a set of stock *everything* up in the front of the car, with a "compromised" design. So, we left the front end how it was, hell bent on coming up with a new design... later. We moved on to other things.
